Let Google search this site for you! What's special about Canadian kids? About me Why I created this site
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
My name is Margo Broadbent, and I am a teacher residing in Ontario, Canada.
I was recently honoured to be a recipient of two awards - the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence and also my teaching federation's Curriculum Award - but most of all, it is a privilege to be able to interact, day in and day out, with children. They enrich my life in a myriad of ways.
I am very passionate regarding the need for our Canadian children to learn that our history is incredibly fascinating and anything BUT boring (the way it was taught to me) and that we have a wonderful heritage worth preserving. You can find out more by clicking on the link "Why I Put Up This Site".
Thank you for visiting! I hope you like my site and find it user-friendly.
They are the youth of Canada who realize that their nation is great, that The True North is a wonderful land to call home! Proud Canadian Kids are different from other kids. Their identity is unique. They recognize that they are small in number, but big in heart. They are not boastful or arrogant, but humble and unassuming - very fine qualities indeed. As a nation, Canadians are typically tolerant and welcoming of those who are "different". We don't insist that everyone fit into the same mould. We have seen the horror that can fester in hatred, and we vow not to succumb. We are known as a people who open our hearts to those in need, and we don't ask anything in return. We have compassion upon those in the world who struggle, are hungry and without hope, or who find themselves in desperate circumstances. We have seen amongst us those who have faced incredible adversity and yet persevered and overcame. Canada is for anyone who has the heart and spirit to see beyond circumstances, who refuses to be caught up in petty arguments that lead to division and hard feelings. It's no wonder Canada was rated by the United Nations SEVEN TIMES IN A ROW as the best nation in the world in which to live! No matter who you are, where you're from, your gender or ancestral background, Canada offers opportunity and a chance to make a difference.
Prior to inclusion, all links to sites out of Proud Canadian Kids have been checked to ensure they are appropriate and suitable for children from Grade Two to Eight and older, and I continue to monitor each page regularly. However, the Internet changes frequently and this is beyond my control. Should you find any objectionable material in the links provided in this website, please email me and I will remove the link immediately. I strongly encourage parents/teachers to supervise children at all times while using the Internet, and to provide clear guidelines for its usage.
Should you be interested in Security programmes that filter what children can access on the Internet (such as Net Nanny and Cyber Patrol), these are available for purchase in stores or online. I am not necessarily endorsing these programmes, but should you care to check them out, here's where they can be found:
Net Nanny's Web site can be found at http://www.netnanny.com. Cyber Patrol's site is at http://www.cyberpatrol.com.
Re: graphics: I have been careful to procure permission from all graphic designers, photographers, webmasters, etc. to use their material and/or have provided links to their sites . Should there be a graphic on these pages that I have inadvertently placed without permission, please notify me. Please note that graphics pertaining to the Canadian government are the property of such (ex. the Coat of Arms, etc.).
